Case Study
Feature Film ‘SON OF BABYLON’ working with the ‘THE IRAQ’S MISSING CAMPAIGN’ and the ICMP (International Commission for Missing People)
Focus: Realising that no other organisations were dealing with the issue, we set up the ‘Iraq’s Missing Campaign’ responding to the problem of missing people in Iraq which ‘Son of Babylon’ explores. Our goals were to raise awareness about the issue globally and bring about policy change in the country.
Work: The film has been used in a series of targeted screenings, bringing people together to take action on our goals.
With the help of the mayor of Geneva, we recently brought together the Iraqi Human Rights minister and the director general of the International Commission on missing persons, to attend a screening of the film and create a focused plan to take action on this issue. From this screening an agreement is to be signed between the MHR and the ICMP.
Change: Global screenings and widespread connected petitioning have helped raised awareness of the issue.
